    WELCOME NEWCOMERS TO MDshooters.com!

Posts here are primarily aimed at people who've heard about tonight’s Patriot Picket on radio or TV, and are coming here for details.

We will bump it regularly for our newbies over the next 48 hours to keep it up high on the main page.

So PLEASE, no comments, observations, chatter, jokes, quips, or thread derails here. This is all update, no comments. If you have a question or comment on the Picket, take it to the "Protesters Arrested" thread and we will add information here as needed.

Shortly after 7pm on Monday Night in Annapolis we will engage in a formal picket line--single file, and on the move in a big circuitous route that will take us along the long sidewalk in front of the House Office building, down to the crosswalks, then over to the Senate Office side and down their long sidewalk to a crossover, and back again.

It will be one big loop there, using the long sidewalks on both sides of the street, with some of our Patriot Picket veterans on station to manage the balance in the crosswalks between the vehicles and our folks, unless the Chief has allocated officers to do this work.

We are going to make a statement, but make it entirely in keeping with the respect for everyone's UNIMPEDED access to the public thoroughfare.

For the time being, remember that you will report to the long sidewalk in front of the House Office building, while paying attention that you NOT gather in conversation groups that would impede anyone else. First folks to arrive can start the line on the House Building sidewalk 100 feet back from the intersection. DO NOT APPROACH THE GATHERING IN THE MALL (Lawyer's Mall) IN FRONT OF THE STATEHOUSE...THAT IS ANOTHER GROUP!

Basically we will stage this 1st Amendment picket with a single file line that could go back to the Rowe Blvd Bridge before we start, but that is how we will maintain an orderly demonstration that appropriately shares the sidewalk. Get in line and we will distribute our printed signs when you are in line. And God bless if you are making your own and bringing them.

Remember, MDS Brothers & Sisters: A significant number of attendees will be responding to our invitations issued during radio & TV interviews. They will not see the route maps and drawings that you will see here in the next 24 hours, so I am encouraging you to reach out to anyone you see in Annapolis that doesn't know how the picket will be organized so that you can introduce yourself and give them the heads up on how we will proceed. In other words, take our newbies under our wings!

We will definitely be making new friends with each step. We will especially be proud of folks who are bringing their young ones so they can experience the Bill of Rights in person!

Look for our route drawings to be posted up soon.

    Here’s the plan:

When you arrive, line up on the sidewalk (marked in red) along the front of the House Office Building.

Line up SINGLE FILE on the part of the sidewalk nearest the House Building leaving half the sidewalk for passers by. It will look like a GIANT line for movie tickets, with later arriving folks going to the end of the line—as far down the sidewalk as it takes— to keep everyone in a single file line.

NOBODY MOVES UNTIL OUR LEADERS AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE PUT THIS PICKET IN MOTION!

It will be a march down towards the Statehouse and back again, with our giant loop making several passes over the next hour.

IMPORTANT: clogging the whole sidewalk JEOPARDIZES this event, so tell this to others politely, please.

Note at the bottom left and right of the map that location of the FREE PARKING GARAGES after 6pm.

All right, let’s show Patriot courtesy at all times. We will distribute our printed signs to folks IN LINE starting at 7pm.

There will be attendees who heard about us on the radio but will not see this map you are seeing, so help them understand the plan and direct them to the end of the line.

IF YOU NEED A MORE DETAILED MAP, USE THE MAP IN POST #11 BELOW

Here is information about the Calvert Street garage, which is the closest garage to our Picket location at Bladen Street and College Avenue.

THE GARAGE IS FOR STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY DURING THE DAY, THEN OPENS TO THE PUBLIC FOR FREE PARKING AT 6pm.

On the map below, the garage is marked as Building 12.

We are also going to track down information about your Plan B parking--which is to park at the US Navy Academy Stadium lot after 6pm.

The Stadium is in the upper left corner of the map below, marked “1A”.

Our experience is that the parking is free there after the business day in Annapolis, but we have an inside guy checking on the exact time Monday morning for the time they quit collecting $5.

FOR YOU FOLKS WITH BIG TRUCKS THAT DON’T FIT PARKING GARAGES: your best option is Naval Academy Stadium parking, where you should be prepared to hand over $5 if the parking attendant is still manning the booth. Otherwise. free, free, free.

There are shuttles but, hell, it’s just a 10-12 minute walk down to our staging area.

The stadium parking entrance is on Taylor Avenue, just a few blocks west of Rowe Blvd.

    How awesome is this?

Ladies & Gents, I am pleased to announce that firearm rights legend and Patriot Picket supporter Dick Heller will join us to stand for Free Speech Monday night in Annapolis.

Dick is a hero to all of us. In the "District of Columbia vs. Heller", the US Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.

I don't think Dick would be upset with me for saying this, but nearly all the landmark plaintiffs in celebrated Supreme Court cases have gone on to their greater reward. Dick Heller still walks among us, though-- a humble and friendly man who retains the fierce 2A advocacy that binds us all.

He knows that 2A folks relish the chance to pose with him for pictures, and he is very gracious about it. First though, he will be my Guest of Honor at the Annapolis press conference (right before our 7pm form-up for our Picket) where I will make a statement to the media along with Deep Lurker about the circumstances that led to being arrested. Attendance there will be limited to the media and invited dignitaries, such as the legislators who have supported us.

Again, It is an honor to learn that Dick Heller will be standing with us.

A word about our sign messaging:

We have two months left in the legislative session to get into SPECIFIC demonstrations against particular 2A infringement bills and bans.

But remember, the Monday Night crowd will be populated by people who are FIRED UP ABOUT THE WORST KIND OF 1ST AMENDMENT INFRINGMENT--HANDCUFF INFRINGEMENT! We owe it to those folks to stage the 1A Picket that they signed up for.

For that reason the focus for Monday Night does NOT change. Please know that we have always planned to bring some of our most striking 2A signs as a small centerpiece for the Picket, but that nearly everyone else will hold this sign below or the version of it they make at home.

Remember, the power of this event comes from the horizon-to-horizon presentation of this very powerful slap at Statist suppression. It's just one night folks, so let's not walk on this FREEDOM OF SPEECH theme.

So absolutely, make your own sign at home with markers or paint. These 6 words below have power...in numbers. Make your sign with these 6 words and join us!

There will be a group of III% Militia attending who will be there to show support and also will be helping with the initial assembly on the sidewalk outside of the HOB.

They will also be keeping watch for any infiltrators who might be there to act up and try to put a stain on the good behavior of the folks coming. Just like they did at the MOAR rally if this happens they will surround whoever is acting up, separating and identifying them until Law Enforcement arrives to deal with them. This is what they do and they are very good at it, so if you see this happening please don't interfere with the process.

I'm sorry, but having a militia show up in fatigues, helmets/battle dress does not give me a warm fuzzy... Seams way to provocative...

    PATRIOT PICKET after-party:

We won’t all be able to eat together before we picket but we can sure hangout together afterwards, tomorrow (Monday) night, at the very roomy UNION JACK’S PUB on Somerville Road (just across from the Mission BBQ Parole Center locale).

For a brief time this is where you can get your picture taken with my Guest of Honor Dick Heller, who will be on the Picket with us.

Yes, that Dick Heller—the legendary winning plaintiff in “District of Columbia vs. Heller” in 2008, the court victory known to all of us as the “Heller case”.

Here is another map that shows where we will be later today. (It is “upside down” when compared to the sketch in post #2)

Those joining our Patriot Picket will line up at 7pm on the long sidewalk outside the House Office Building on Bladen Street—marked as Building 14 on the map below.

The free parking garage that opens to the public at 6pm is marked as Building 12.

We will distribute our printed signs to those in this line and begin our walking Picket shortly thereafter. Our leaders at the head of the line will signal the start

THE FOLLOWING IS FOR PATRIOT PICKET MEMBERS ONLY: Folks outfitted in Patriot Picket shirts who wish to stand with me in the press conference tonight, please eat early and find a spot in the free public parking garages just after 6pm when they open to the public.

Leaving pocket knives and other weapons in your vehicle, make your way to the public entrance of the House Office Building—marked as Building 14 on the map below. That entrance is on Bladen Street.

Bring your Driver’s License or other official photo ID to get thru security and screening, which includes metal detectors, by 6:15pm

Once inside make your way to Room 145 for our press conference starting at 6:30pm. Do not be late if you are joining us!

For those interested in the shuttle from the stadium, shuttle runs every 20 min after 6. Fare is $2 one way $4 for the daily pass. $1 one way $2 daily pass for seniors and students with ID. Also same reduced price for anyone with a ADA pass.

As indicated earlier, it's an easy walk, and many plan to do so. Hope this helps.

Attn: Sgt. Wilson and Pvt. Pope, and other distinguished visitors and guests

You've no doubt been reading this and other threads in advance of tonight's event. Note how in all of these threads that we always advise following the law, being respectful of others on the sidewalk, etc.

We have always done that as we lobbied on the sidewalk, each and every Monday night that the legislature has been in session since 2016, and we were doing it the night of the arrests. Go see posts 223 and 1065 in the "arrested" thread on the Maryland 2a forum here. No one was blocking the sidewalk, and even when the arrests were underway, there was enough room for a patriot picketer to carry a huge sign right behind the cops.

As you no doubt know, concealed carry permit holders are even, correction, way more law abiding than the police. Google "law enforcement vs concealed carry permit crime" and see for yourself. While the Patriot Picket is composed of all types of people, the one thing that we have in common is our passion for lawful redress of our trampled second amendment rights in this state, one of which is the ridiculous process in place to issue carry permits.

Everyone of us is against the unlawful use of firearms. The problem is that the legislature of this state seeks to make criminals out of more and more otherwise law abiding citizens by making common popular firearms and accessories illegal, while at the same time failing to address any of the real problems that cause crime.

Take bump stocks for instance. No crime has ever been committed in Maryland using one. Baltimore leads the nation in per capita firearms related homicides, of which there were 343 last year. About 1.4% of firearms related crimes involve the use of a long gun, which is what bump stocks are used on. So why focus any energy at all on something that fails to address, assuming 100% long gun bump stock use, 98.6% of the problem?

Or take the handgun permit review board, which has been proposed to be disbanded, ostensibly because they were too routinely overturning the state police, and issuing concealed carry permits. One would think that the anti 2A people must blame the high homicide rate in this state, which has among the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, on concealed carry permit holders. If you googled LEO vs CCP holder crime rate, you already know that is not true. Furthermore, the HPRB acts as civilian oversight of law enforcement, which everyone in Baltimore was clamoring for after the death of Freddy Gray.

Firearms are not the cause of crime, they are but one tool available to criminals. But it is easier for legislators to pass laws against guns than it is to address the real cause of crime - lack of good employment, especially for non-college grads, broken families, lack of safe affordable housing, etc. Until those problems are addressed, criminals will find a way to get guns, the same way that junkies get heroin, and heretofore lawful gun owners will be the only ones affected by stricter gun laws.
