I myself am a sucker for the PDW-style braces, if only for the AAC honey badger looks. The insane compactness is also a bonus.

Assemble your lower, buy a complete upper. My second AR was a build from the ground up. All were high quality parts and total came to around 2k. I simply could not get the upper together and tried everything I could think of, but the tolerances were too tight. Had to take it to Chad to have him do it for me, and he ended up having to drill out the gas port on top of my other issues. YMMV, but I would look at just buying a complete upper unless you really want to get into building ARs (Take Chad's course!). I just ordered an upper from https://www.blackstonearms.com/ and have been very happy with the process and support from the company (small shop in Texas that does ARPerformance barrels). It arrives on Monday.

Oof, that makes me worry a little bit.... Sad but I will live without the AGB, 1:8, and non-govt cut

If you're not going to run a suppressor, I would just use an A2.

Also, another barrel you could look into is the 12.3 BA Hanson.

I'm 6'4" ish.. the pistol stabilizing braces that are out there.. are too small short. Even at full extension the 458 SOCOM or 300blk is brain rattling to shoot hahaha. but i do love my 24" bull barrel 223 Wylde. Groundhogs hate it and while i wouldn't do it.. it IS deer legal in Maryland.

I think my feedback on to build or not, depends on your philosophy of use (POU). I LOVE the short pistol ar for deer hunting under 50y. 95% of my shooting is 200-600 yards though. With no interest in a "safe queen" or whatever it's called.. i ask what's the POU?
