Should I have my flash unpinned and have a QD taper mount pinned back on (by a reputable company) or should I just get a new 16" barrel and keep the other as a spare?

I never thought I'd get a can but here I am

Depends. How deep are your pockets and how much/good is your current barrel?

If you decide to get a new barrel, so far I am pretty happy with Rosco Manufacturing and Faxon for the money. Rosco actually makes and markets a 16" "heavy barrel" if you are stuck with a post 2013 lower. If not, I like my 16" Faxon Gunner profile barrel a lot. If you want to stay BCM, totally understand. They make great parts, though it seems like their QC during assembly has slipped a bit.
