They will have to apply with the Calvert and St. Mary's Republican State Central Committee's. They will then have to hold interviews and a vote to decide who they will choose. Anyone who is a republican from his existing district may apply. Im sure there will be an announcement in the newspaper with how to apply.

I was curious why O'Donnell voted against some bills that legalized rifle hunting in southern Maryland. Maybe there was something in the weeds I missed. In some cases he was the only one (or one of two maybe?) to vote against them.

Population density, most likely. There are few places where a rifle bullet won't hit a house.

The list is out already http://www.thebaynet.com/articles/0616/househopefulsdiscusscandidacies.html

from Calvert County, former county commissioner Jerry Clark, former committee member Don Statter and Orphans Court Judge Ted LeBlanc—and from St. Mary’s, incumbent Commissioner Todd Morgan, former commissioner Barbara Thompson and St. Mary’s Republican Club President Greg Sauter.

I only know about the St.Mary's side. Barbara Thompson was a past County Comissioner president and I believe did a good job being one of the few Republicans on the board at the time. Todd Morgan is a current member whom all I can say is meh  I think he's only interested in himself and going higher. Please elaborate if you know more. Greg Sauter I don't know.

Any insight into the Calvert side?

I will elaborate. Yes, I agree Todd is only our for himself. He's ok making money, and lots of it. When it comes to raises for county employees, he is not very supportive. I know Barbara and she is a good leader and knowledgeable. So is her husband. They are both active in the county an endeavor to make St. Mary's a better place. I wish the Thompson would get back into active politics.
