Has anyone fabricated one? I started a search online...just wondered if anyone has built one? I found a wood press for a crossbow but I dont think I'll try that yet

A friend of mine was desperate and used two ratchet straps to put the string back on his bow after someone dryfired it. Couple of clicks on one strap then a couple on the other. Alternating between the two. If your in a pinch, it will work but I like my face too much to try it myself.

Undecided on a great many things
I think I'd be more worried about loosing fingers trying to let those ratchet straps off than cranking them.

I made mine a few years back and still works fine. I will post pics later. In the meantime CL has a few for sale.

Here's one made from a bar clamp. If you only need something to get the tension off the string/cables - wouldn't work for a full take down. Just don't let bow tip over while pressing.
