I’m looking at upgrading my 686+ and I see two options. One is the 686+ Performance Center and the other is the 627 Performance Center. The main difference between the two besides the frame size is the 686 is cut for moon clips which I like. I’m leaning towards the 627, but wondering if the larger frame size is a problem for someone with small than average hands. It seems like the N frame trigger reach isn’t significantly longer the L frame. Is this true? Any other input between the two?

There isn't much difference in trigger reach, IMO, grips change the feel more than the frame size IMO. That being said, the N does feel noticeably larger and bulkier, although not much heavier. Your needs may also point you to one or the other, the 8rd 627 is more fun, and would be a better range gun, there are a few 627 models cut for moons from the factory, but if not, most any gunsmith or S&W will cut the cylinder for you. Have handled the PC686, personally don't like the extra rotational mass of a solid cylinder, hate the comp cylinder release, and it just comes with plain Hogue grips and the most boring overall look, the SSR looks and feels much better, the 5" pro series is really nice too. I personally despise the 7rd + models, but I competed with revolvers, and most matches require only 6rds to be loaded, and having primarily 6 shooters, I'm not used to the 7th round on the few I tried out.

Beautiful gun. Very smooth and fits great. Balances better than my 686 also.

I have smallish hands. N-frame 686 doesn't work for me. Cannot comfortably/safely reach the trigger. 627 PC is no problem for me and handles about the same as my model 66 (no dash).
