What are we looking at? English? French? Scottish?

Italian, 17th century. Del Tin reproduction with sharpened blade. I might post a picture of it without the scabbard, but a sharp rapier is nothing special...just pointy! :liar:

My old EDC lot. Love the feel of Spydercos but disappointed with the steal.

Did some more research. Love my new EDC but was affraid to use it to clean the mower deck yesterday. Someday it may get scratched, but the 6-4 Ti handle probably won't.

I never had a pocket knife that was too nice to use until now. The ZT 561 is a work of art.

I've heard a lot of people say with the Delica/Endura they are let down by the steel. I had a ZDP-189 Delica (Pebble Blue, first gen use of ZDP, Gen-4 D/E) and it was great except when it came to sharpening. It was a nightmare and the steel would chip before it would roll. I didn't have an EdgePro then and it was such a nightmare I wound up trading it. I actually liked Spyderco's earlier D/E 2/3 when they used ATS-34 and the needle tip more than the current VG-10 E/D4 with reinforced tip, but its difficulty to sharpen and tendency for people to break the tip off resulted in the present choice of VG-10.

The 561 is AMAZING. If I did not have an Umnumzaan, I would purchase it. ZT's 3xx series are among the finest of folders, but bulky and heavy. The 561 addressed this and without a compromise in durability as when I handled it it felt like a tank, it carried in the pocket a lot better, and it's steel defies the traditional rule of higher hardness=harder to sharpen and less impact resistance. They took the pivot joint and ball-bearing to the next level, as well. Everything I've seen with ELMAX seems to defy traditional rules and it seems to carry tool steel hardness but with stainless ease of sharpening and impact resistance. There aren't many knives I am comfortable batoning, throwing, or prying with, but I would have no hesitations with the 561. There are a lot of good knives on the market, but it is rare for a knife to have the balanced properties of the 561, and especially the level of toughness.

Now the first few marks on it...it's gonna hurt. You may have feelings of anxiety, or even start crying without reason in public places. But it will get better, and every mark will soon be indicative of a story of variable levels of interest. But on a serious note, the ti will show marks progressively, and it often shows markings easier than other more common finishes, but its durability being so far superior to most handle materials justifies its usage. ZT can, in most cases, refinish it (although not sure about the rear side's finish or how ZT handles anodized finishes) but, as you progressively use it harder and harder, chances are you won't bother given ti marks up pretty easily and the 'scales' used on the ZT will probably hide them well. The stonewashed blade does a fantastic job of hiding scratches.
