I was just about ready to pull the trigger on a Gemtech monocore - but now I see a CGS Hydra which has locking baffles. Would the baffles be better in terms of not getting gummed up and / or sound reduction? Or is the sound reduction just for the first round pop on the moncores? Are subsequent rounds on the monocores actually more quiet?

Personally I prefer a baffle over a monocore for a few reasons. If you look at the K baffles they have angled slots that seem to do a better job at both sound reduction and first round pop. A suppressor like the Axiom for example has a thin sleeve around it that helps taking it apart without sticking issues. Another at vantage to the baffles is replacement you can replace only what is needed and not the entire core. The monocore units are much easier to machine and do work well. But seems the more quieter cans seem to be K baffle units.
