Help Handgun permit denied!

Hello,
Is there any way around this? As a good citizen(fingerprinting complete), avid range shooter, and having taken the HQL class, I was denied my handgun permit because I happen to have a medical cannabis card. I am not a habitual user but was still denied. Is there any way around this?

There was a bill addressing this issue this past Maryland GA session, but I don't know what happened with it.

It seems that Maryland wants to have their cake and eat it too. They flout federal law when it is in their favor, but embrace federal law when it is in their favor. They legalized medical weed, yet they use medical weed as an excuse to deny 2A rights.

Yup, it's right there on the 77R. If you have the MM card, you can't buy a handgun.

Maybe give up your MQL and reapply for the HQL at a later date? Never understood all these pot heads needing a license to buy pot, as if they ever had a problem getting it before?

Have you tried cocaine instead? MD doesn’t disqualify you with a cocaine card. I’ll give you a class if you want just bring all your cocaine to my office and we can discuss it.

Big mistake, technically you arent even allowed to have firearms if you have a MM card. Better off getting it illegally since its pretty much decriminalized now.

Just curious, did you tell them you have a MM card or did they find out on their own?
