I've read the Handgunlaw page for North Carolina and will be carrying there for the first time on my Virginia Non-Resident permit.

Anyone want to give me any further head's up on what I need to know?

We'll be staying in the Blowing Rock/Boone area.

    Norton,

Check out "CCW" app for your smart phone.

If you are going to carry state to state it will be the best $1.99 you ever spent.

I’ve carried there for years open and concealed on a Utah and never had a problem. Must inform and no Buffalo Wild Wings were the only things I tried to remember. Do read what welder posted though. I’m not sure about that area but in Wilson there are some dems that post no firearms signs in their shops. There is a great donut shop that I chanced the trespassing charge a few times, darn good donuts.

I was in NC for the day via TN. in Cherokee NC , I CC'd the whole day on a motorcycle on the few permits I have . I tend to forget after my trip what you can do , I always spend a few hours reading over stuff to make sure I am good for multiple states as I travel .

It changes so much and is a royal PITA for me as well , I wish I could just carry with my drivers lic. .

    I'll download it, thanks.

Like I said - I read the Handgunlaw page - just trying to see if there was some clarification on the stuff there I was needed to be reminded of.

It's actually not as complicated as WV used to be.

Welcome to NC. I carry here daily. The important things to watch for are the “posted” no weapons signs on some merchants and please if addressed by a LEO let them know you are CCW first thing as they can be jumpy (rightfully so).

GREAT area, Jefferson/West Jefferson were on my possible retirement areas.

As far as your question goes.... :o I dunno.

Need to inform is the biggest!

I've always done that when having any LE interaction while carrying even when not required, so wouldn't be a big shift for me.

Here in the east, OC is common as well as CC. Just abide by the "gunbuster" signs and you will be okay anywhere in the state.

And those aren't just "leave or you're trespassing signs" right?

Those are "you've committed a violation of the law and can be cited", right?

We would consider the area if some part time work opportunities presented themselves, along with some performance opportunities. I think that's kind of why I wanted to see the area, along with the fact that there's some good hiking close by.

Now I’m curious how the no guns sign can work at a drive through? Violation committed if you don’t even leave your vehicle?
Lured in with donuts, blocked in by other donut fans, then a sign ... I was set up! Good darn donuts.
    Enjoy your trip.

If the lot itself is not posted No Guns IMO you’d be ok. A sign at the entrance to s building means no guns inside the property

    Just my opinion

    IANAL
