How long would we have to go without our cars to get them powder coated?
I was thinking red for my Cherokee trailhawk since my tow hooks are red.

Powder coating would require dis assembly and rebuild...

Paint with good paint as thick as you can and repaint as necessary.

If you know the right mechanic he can dis-assemble your calipers for you, airfreight them off (the guy I used was in Alabama) believe it or not. His turn around is 3 days, had them painted ZR1 blue and back on my black CTS-V coupe in about a week total time. Looks great and lasts just about forever.

Alloy wheel repair specialists in rosedale does powder coating. If you get an appointment, I bet you could have the removed and disassembled by someone then powder coated, reassembled and reinstalled in one day.

Being that you don't have fixed calipers, i would just go with paint. You'll probably need to touch it up once a year, but it's pretty easy to do.

I painted mine black with caliper paint. They still look good after a year or so. I didn't want to go with a flashy color like red or anything in case it start peeling or chipping. Black is a more forgiving color but doesn't give you any flair.

Yeah, i really need to do this with my wifes new van. Its a much cleaner job when the brakes are new and rust hasn't set in yet.

I did my Audi S4 in red and this was the kit that I used. They looked good for about 4-6 years before the paint started looking closer to pink. I drove many track days in that car and generated enough heat to warp 3 sets of rotors, so I would say it is good stuff.

It is a thick paint, so you don't have to worry about total disassembly like you would with powder coat.

I'm close friends with two pro auto painters; they both use plain old rattle can spray paint to paint their brake calipers. No matter how you finish them, they will eventually get chipped and worn. No point in spending a ton.

Just pop the wheel off, unbolt the caliper and pop the pads out and tape up the rotor, inner wheel well, and your fender around the wheel well. Use wire(coat hanger works well) to hang the caliper from somewhere in the wheel well. Scuff it with some 300 grit and spray. Three healthy coats should do it. High heat paint will hold up a little better.

I have painted both my vehicles with G2 caliper epoxy/paint. I did a 2014 Mustang in a special G2 color matched version (Gotta Have it Green) and they look like the day I painted them (2+ yrs ago). I have also done my truck calipers with G2 Black. I would say that, in my experience, the G2 caliper epoxy/paint is the next best thing after powder coating. In fact I specifically chose not to powder coat and use G2 instead.

Look up G2 Paint, it is somewhere between cheap paint kits and powder coating in durability. As with all paint it is in the prep. I recommend if you use the G2 keep the paint itself in an ice water bath to retard the reaction until you get it on the calipers. It is in essence a 2 part epoxy paint.

I used high temp engine paint on my calipers about two years ago and it still looks great.
