Just watched a YouTube on that. That is a new one on me. The YouTube I watched used candle wax instead of petroleum jelly. Interesting.

Petroleum jelly makes a mess when hot out...ends up running out of the cotton/lint and getting on everything you don't want it to.

Just buy the Duraflame Firestart Cubes from Walmart.....they're like poor man's Wetfire.

I saw a video where the user made 3 different lint firestarters; soy oil, Vaseline and plain lint. Of the 3, soy burned hotter/faster, petroleum jelly longer. I wrapped mine in wax paper for some protection/as fuse, then to plastic containers

Was doing some background research on the weeds the chix were being allowed to munch - The Wife was concerned about toxicity. Considering that we've been weeding and tossing the greens into the run for years now, I figured they were safe. But I did the research anyway. Turns out the broad-leaf "weeds" are common plantains (not the banana-type,) and are edible, nutritious, and medicinal.

Sauteed some with onions and garlic in bacon renderings, then simmered in a splash of The Wife's leftover white wine until the liquid was reduced. Turned a dark emerald green. Mouth feel - "Industrial strength spinach." Taste is decent. Would definitely mix with some basil, blend, and pesto the hell out of something.

I bought a bag of that soy wax from Amazon earlier this week. I did a little daddy day care this week with the kids and had them helping to make candles. I used some of their old broken crayons to color the wax. It turned a pretty mundane job into something they were willing to help with. I also made a few with some citronella drops in them. 20 candles put away now. Thanks kiddo’s!

Due to the price of meat no one was buying pork butts at giant. It went on that “Buy it today or we throw it away tomorrow 50% off sale”. I bought all 4 they had left. My smoker is gonna put in work.

Congratulations, we just had our fourth last week. My wife isn’t quite up to taking care of the two little ones on her own for days at a time yet, but I am looking forward to when she is back on her feet and I can do more than morning geocaching or pond fishing trips with my older two.
