Feel bad for those who paid $3000k + for the M4A1 SOCOM. I bought two from Arms Unlimited for $1450 and sold one for that price to an MDS member and the other for $2950 on Armslist.

Supply and demand. You can live by it or die by it...and it's still better than socialism.

As Warren Buffet said about his strategy for becoming wealthy..."Buy when everyone is selling and sell when everyone is buying."

    So true!

I can also say I've been late to the party a few times. When the Colt "snake guns" were bringing huge prices I thought about selling my Pythons but held off. I could have made some super profits if I did but am glad I didn't. I did sell a Boa and a NIB Viper...kinda sorry I sold them but they paid for a year of college for our daughter so I really shouldn't complain.

So even with Colt back in the game, I am not so sure prices for Colt AR's will ever be sub $1K again. Hope I'm wrong.

My question is - how long before they can inject enough inventory to where we actually see them on the shelves? The article cites 2K 6920's. I wonder what dealers are getting preference here.

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but all I've heard of so far is the regular 6920. How about the SOCOM for us Maryland folk?

I am glad to see Colt back in the game. I read this situation as they realizing demand is so high that they would be stupid not to ramp up production for the civi market. I agree that their original premise was to focus on gov contracts, but I also feel like they weren't selling like hot cakes in general. I feel that if demand was not at a record high, that they may not be changing their tune to provide for the civi market, at least yet. Just my opinion.

It's not so much dealers but who to whom distributors are giving preference. Colt only sells to distributors except in some special circumstances such as special editions.

When Colt suspended production of rifles for the civilian market they had something like a 120-day inventory at the then present rate of sales. It made no sense to add to that plus having a backlog of foreign contracts to fulfill. It wasn't that their products weren't selling...it was that everyone's AR-type rifles weren't selling...and some makers couldn't withstand the down market and closed their doors. Colt didn't have to close their doors and had the capacity (for once) to shift gears towards production to other customers.

Colt made it clear earlier this year they were concentrating on fulfilling other contracts and were open to revisiting the decision should market conditions change. That's what happened...why criticize it?

If anyone wants to blame someone for Colt re-entering the AR market...blame Black Lives Matter and Antifa. If it wasn't for their taking advantage of an injustice and fomenting civil unrest Colt likely wouldn't be restarting the civilian AR assembly lines. It's all BLM and Antifa's fault.

I cannot find a single situation where I'd pay that much for an AR unless it was something vintage

There is no guarantee they'll be selling that model again. I hope they do though because I'd like to keep buying them.

Scared people will pay anything...even offer you their daughter or wife if they're scared enough to think they need one.

Fear is a powerful motivator...and the Libs are finding out what their past votes have brought them when they discover what a HQL is or a seven-day wait.
