    FYI, the Mini-14 came out before 1978. Mine is from early 1977 and has the bicentennial rollmark on the side. Likely manufactured in '76 and shipped in '77.

    (Edit- just checked, and the Mini-14 debuted in 1973)

    I misinterpreted the Ruger web site serial number listing. It was the first year for the 181 series.

    I have a letter for an original brass framed Blackhawk from Ruger. Unless it is something a bit odd I haven't bothered to letter it. Odds are good I would lose the letter before it mattered anyways :)

    Their format has gotten much nicer I do have to say though! Good on them for that.

    Yeap, my first one is a 180 series, and have the 200th Year of American Libery rollmark.

    I will have to send for the letter on that one.
