Found some damascus steel bars so decided to make a knife by hand. Not very traditional and pretty mean and nasty, just the way I like them.
Used a drill press, a bench grinder, and a hack saw. It's fairly sharp and fits very nicely, now just need to figure out how to make a sheath.

It looks interesting, but I've watched too many Forged in Fire episodes. It looks like it would flop around in your hand with no grip to wrap your hand around.

Made another one, and used some special acid and sandpaper to make it colorful.

Someone on MDS a while ago talked about some place in PA I think where you spend a couple days to learn how to forge your own blade and actually complete one. He gave the info on the school/ forge. As well as others. IIRC

Lots of places to learn real forging (Forged In Fire is not one of them, it makes real 'smiths cringe). Here are a few to get you started.
