Hey new to the forum and new ish to Maryland.

I am originally from Arizona and I was always able to just go out to the forest to shoot as long as you weren't being stupid you wouldn't get in trouble.

Is there any where in or near Maryland that I can do this. I have always had bad experiences at ranges and no not because I'm stupid. It's other people I have seen too many people have lousy muzzle control and making stupid mistakes.

Welcome to MD, I guess. I would have stayed in AZ, LOL. My brother and his family live there, in Scottsdale. I visited him when he lived in Chandler , and his bachelor party was in Scottsdale. Very nice area.

Where in MD do you live now? That would help narrow down areas to point you to.

This is Merry-Land & you need written permission from the property owner to shoot any where...

This State Law was passed in the late 60's or early 70's...

You're a funny guy. Used to go with my buddy out in the desert (Phoenix) anywhere
(within reason ) and camp or shoot 'em up.

Outta luck, here, pal. Can't even camp in UN-designated areas, ie. no camping at random on state land.
SHOOTING? You are dreaming. Can't target shoot - PERIOD on state lands.

It sucks. Gotta go to a range.
Buy hey, you make more money in this job than another, right?

This is my biggest obstacle in convincing my wife to leave...
Special educator, Master's in Special Ed +30, 7 Praxis certs and 14 years on the job. That combo makes for a pretty decent teacher's salary in Marylandistan. Other states can't come close.

12th Precinct Pistol and Archery Range in Harwood MD (private range with reasonable membership fee) is outstanding. Very nice facilities. Only drawback is no high-powered rifles or shotguns.

Stoney Creek Gun Club is pretty close. I am actually looking to become a member because they have a number of range options. You need to be a current NRA member and take the hunters safety course. I don’t know much but their web page tells you the rules, regs and cost.
