Among the worrisome results, >2/3 of respondents in gun-owning households reportedly support licensing and fingerprinting provisions of governor's package.

    http://marylandreporter.com/2013/03...verwhelming-support-for-gun-control-measures/

My guess is that is reflective of a gender gap---there may be a gun owner in the household, but they are not the person responding to the telephone poll. Still....

Specific crosstabs on gun control are here: http://marylandreporter.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Gun-Ownership-Crosstabs.pdf

Also, poll was not limited to registered or likely voters.

My guess: another bogus survey that wouldn't stand up to a peer review.

791 respondents don't really amount to much. Plus, I am guessing the sample they used was predetermined. In any case, for all of the anti-2A polls, there are as many that support the 2nd Amend.

Time to start spreading the word about the case of California using lists to get firearms from a lady AND her husband for a 48 hour psych hold. It would help to get the hunting/shotgun only crowd engaged.

I have been trying to get my friend in on it and he keeps telling me "They aint coming for your guns." And "I dont own any of those guns". So i told his kid that he wont be able to hunt cuz he wont be able to posess the ammo and to hound his dad to get in the fight.

No its the same noise. Read the questions. Loaded terms. Statard push poll. And no check questions to identify the bias.

Not even a good high school attempt.

791 people can produce an accurate poll if done used accepted statistical means.

Unfortunately, if they don't provide their methodology, we ca't know if it's a valid poll or not.

We can however point out our methodology on our poll is documented for anyone to review.

They probably called in the middle of the day, when most gun owners are out working. Also, nearly everyone I know (and almost everyone I know is pro-2a) will not answer the phone if they don't recognize the number. I know I don't.

Not enough transparency in how they generated the list, or the demographics of who responded. Baltimore city with it's gun crime is not representative of MD as a whole.

If the questions were framed as written, AKA "Do you [support or oppose] requiring a license for handgun buyers?" then they are misleading as they aren't differentiating a handgun license vs a driver's license.

They also didn't touch many of the bigger issues like mandatory registration and the fees and training required to get said license.

    Biased.

that's because the majority of gun owners are "casual" owners
They don't have a clue what the government has in mind for gun registration - in their mind it's will be the same as getting a driver's license

The only thing that could be more screwed up with that poll would be if it was done by Stevenson University. Poll liberals and get fudged results.

I have new research, it says 92% of polls are made up to suit the desired outcome. Then there are the majority of MDers who supported slavery circa 1860, or those that supported segregation in the 60's, it's been pretty well established that the founders feared tyranny of the majority just as much if not more than tyranny of a monarchy, our rights are not subject to mob rule.
