Ruger's semis have failed to wow........they are in a rock and a hard place. They make a fantastic revolver but the wheel gun market is just ehhhh cuz everyone wants black and tac

They do continually have great price points and decent products though

Gun companies love the half plastic guns because there's an excellent profit margin in them . It is a lot cheaper both in parts and labor to manufacture a polymer framed pistol than an AR or especially a revolver. I think Ruger is going to have a hard time competing with Glock and the Smith & Wesson M&P series at this point though, with prices are already in a race to Rock Bottom

It's actually a very comfortable gun to shoot. The trigger feels very similar to the LCP II.

Ruger's product page implys that it shares the LCPII's trigger. "The Secure Action used in the LCP® II and Security-9® is derived from the reliable and proven hammer-fired LCP® fire control system."

Sure looks like they took the LCPII and just scaled it up.

The name "Security 9" doesn't "sing"...not like "Security Six" which is a much missed and very fine revolver. It sounds like Ruger is trying to ride on old older, respected name. Well..Ruger isn't the first or only manufacturer of any consumer item that has done that.

Not what I was expecting from the thread title/their name for it,I was hoping it was a 9 shot version of the Security Six.:sad20:

Me too, with a cylinder that resembled a ferris wheel.

    That semi is hideous.

As much of a "R" fanboy as I am, Ruger has not impressed me in a long time... and so it goes with their "latest... greatest..."

One drawback for me is that it has a thumb safety... I might be persuaded to give one a whirl if they nix the safety. I prefer my EDC without a thumb safety as it is just something else to contend with in a high stress situation. I have an LC9S Pro and a $200 S&W "Sigma" 9... both of which I have fine tuned and are excellent shooters. I just emailed Ruger with a suggestion and I will report back when I hear from them.
