    Hey all,

As many of you now know, the Keltec RDB is
now available for purchase, and despite considerable
public skepticism regarding Keltec products, the RDB
is proving very reliable, solidly durable, lightweight at only
    7lbs, and decently accurate.

Also, it's not banned in the state.

Has any fellow Marylanders had the fortune
to purchase this rifle? There may be a minor complication
regarding overall length requirement since it's OAL is
only 27.4" one may be required to add a longer muzzle device
or install a slightly longer barrel.

I can't wait to get my hands on one.
    Anyone else here?

Do you have a link where we can buy one? How much?

It looks good. Kel-tec teally is making products people want.

I hope all the kinks are are worked out. The KSG was a POS when it came out.

I'm not sure WHERE to buy one. I know they
are all over gunbroker, and have been seen in many gunstores
    across the country.

The only thing we have to do in MD is install a slightly
longer muzzle device to bring it up to 29".

The standard OAL for the RDB is 27.4 inches.

I imagine you should be able to order one through
your local gun dealer, and he would be able to install the
new muzzle device in the store before transferring it to you.

I don't know. I've been asking people who
own the RDB on various forums like ar15.com and
the bullpup.com forum, and everyone seems
    super pleased with it.

Noone has reported a single malfunction using brass ammo,
even after over a thousand rounds fired, out of the box, without
any lube or cleaning whatsoever. A few said they had feeding
problems using wolf steel cased ammo, but they quickly resolved those
by turning the gas wheel a few notches.

People report it shooting on average between 1.5 and sub 3 moa
which isn't bad, and probably better than the Tavor.

It's slim and light weight at only 7lbs and has a real nice trigger.

Thur far, I see no reason not to buy it. I certainly plan to do so
as soon as I can. I already own a Tavor, and while my Tavor
is a great rifle. It can be weighty. And while it's probably the most
reliable rifle on the market today, it certainly isn't any tack driver.

I'm going to go ahead and buy the RDB as soon as I find a dealer with one.
Just wondering if anyone else is planning on doing so, or already has.

While I super respect Kel-tec I'm having a hard time seeing the advantage over a Tavor (which also has the extend the muzzle issue).

Also its Keltec it will likely be a while before they settle down to market. I'm still waiting for the CMR to hit MSRP or lower.

google is your friend, I am not.
Kel-tec makes a MD compliant model of the RFB, with a 24" barrel. "RFB Hunter" - OAL 32" I think.

Tavor also offers a MD compliant model with a compensator to bring the OAL to 30.1".

Perhaps the RDB will be offered with a longer barrel like the RFB for the socialist states. I think they have to to sell in CA as well.

At one point, they were demo'ing an RDB that had like a 20" barrel, and that SHOULD have made OAL. So it's not necessarily out of the realm of possibility for future versions.

    Yeah, luckily I bought the non-Maryland 28 1/8" version
of the Tavor before the Oct 2013 law went into effect, so mine
is grandfathered in before the law.

Basically the RDB is significantly lighter in weight, slimmer design,
has a better trigger and slightly better MOA accuracy.

Plus it has all the same benefits that the Tavor does.

That and the way it field strips... It's just more user friendly according to every review I've seen so far. Since the serialized part is the rear stock, the possibility for change of calibers are wide open. KelTec seems to have hit a big score with this design.

I've heard that the handguard heats up really fast under sustained fire. That's a bit of a problem, to put it mildly.

Very interesting to see if it competes with the Tavor. I'm definitely interested in the bullpup design. I like it because it satisfies two wants I have with AR's.... an SBR without the tax stamp and a piston gun for cleaner shooting when suppressed.

could it be as bad as a vz58/2008?

love my vz58 but it doesnt get as much range time because of the hot handguard issue. its not as bad if i remember to pack gloves, though.

Pretty cool. I like the Tavor but hate the trigger, if this (out of the box) is a better rifle for accuracy that's a huge plus at a similar price point.

I am a general fan of Kel-Tec products but the one big caveat is they aren't battle-tested. They are very innovative designs that have their tradeoffs. I love my SU-16C in many ways, but it's also no AR.

You guys make a good point. Ive always been pretty impressed with Keltec stuff. Love my Sub2ks and my KSG. As noted above just waiting for the CMR to get reasonable (almost there).
