Picked-up another Shadow 2 in Urban Gray/Black today. Looks new to me but, allegedly had one box of ammo run thru it by the previous owner.

How could someone sell that after one box?! That’s crazy. Nice gun! And I’m not a fan of gray guns.

I know, I'm not either but...it's a Shadow 2. It could be pink with 'Fancy Boy' stenciled in neon green on the dust cover for all I care. I've never shot any handgun in any caliber better than a Shadow 2. Colt Python is close. The Sig Legion P226 SAO is close. So is a S&W Model 41 with a 7.5" barrel. But, there's a few out there I'd welcome the opportunity to compare. I'd love to get my hands on a Sig P210 or a race ready X-5. Its hard for me to imagine they could be that much better.

Exactly that, I have heard a bunch of folks say they dont like that color scheme. Its also posible that the person got a great deal or won it in a raffle or something and maybe did well selling it

It's hard telling. I'm not a big fan of funky color schemes, either, but the gray/black is starting to grow on me and as long as it's a shooter, that's all that really matters.

Now, I'm considering the Kadet .22 conversion kit and running one of the Shadow 2's as a full-time .22 competition pistol.

    How did I sell it?

Easy. It was more of a sale/trade/purchase deal.

Nice ergos. Good shooter. Would have become a range only, dot queen. I would never have carried this gun.

At this point in my life, a gun is a tool not a toy. I don’t see that gun on my hip or in the woods. It’s impracticably heavy for both of those tasks.

Y’all shouldn’t be so quick to doubt and or disparage. I guess it’s what people who are really smart and worldly do...

    As you were.

No worries, brother. I appreciate the great deal and as always, it's a pleasure doing bidness with ya! :party29:

No, these Shadow 2's aren't good for much of anything except competition and (maybe) one helluva nightstand pistol but, carrying the beast all day long in the field/forest? No thanks. I prefer something lighter and more practical.

Most of my shooting nowadays is purely recreational, although, I've always got room in my safe for something that can do both equally well.

It went to a great home where it will be loved and appreciated. That’s almost as good a reason as “it doesn’t fit my own schedule of utility.”

It’s a great damn gun...for what it is. Indeed, it’s one of the single nicest “out of the box” shooters I’ve ever used/owned. For my money though, give me a SAO Legion or a damn good old 1911. If I’m gonna haul a big gun around, it needs to have more utility and less pretty. That’s just me.

    Enjoy.

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bash anyone. I’ve just heard so many good things about them. I’ve also never been a big buy/sell/trade kind of guy so I’m always surprised at guns that are traded in with low round counts. As the saying goes one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. They’re definitely geared towards range/competition. As long as you got what you wanted in the end. That’s what counts. Good luck.

That would make one heck of a 22 Target gun.

    No worries.

I, like most folks here, suffer from the “right fit” on carry gun AND holster. It’s kind of like searching for two holy grails simultaneously.

The CZ Shadow 2 is now a SIG P365 and a VP9 SK, both with accoutrements.

I have enjoyed regret before. Prolly not this time. But if I do, I know just how to remedy it, eh? ;-)

I know it's stupid but I agonize a lot more over buying a $50-75 holster than a $600 gun. I'm very satisfied with the Dara IWB I got for the VP9SK, though. I'm thinking about getting an OWB for it, too, just because I don't imagine the 13-round HK mags would be all that comfortable in an IWB holster.

I need to get some type of holster for the Shadow 2 but, I'm not sure if I want to pony-up $144 for a competition holster like, a Ghost 'The One' or go with something for about half that price? Again, it'll probably take me 3+ months to make a decision on it.

I'm leaning in that direction but, hesitating slightly until I can get more info on how well the Shadow 2 version of the Kadet .22 kit performs. Everything I'm seeing on YouTube right now (which isn't that much) is focusing on reliability/dependability because the first Kadet conversion kit CZ released for the 75/SP-01 was such an epic fail. It looks like they've solved the reliability issues but, how does it shoot?

I haven't seen any reviews on its accuracy (yet) but, my standards and expectations for a .22 pistol were formed (ruined) a long time ago by a S&W Model 41 with a 7.5" bbl. I would hope /expect the Shadow 2 Kadet kit to perform pretty close to it and if it doesn't, I may pass and just leave it in 9mm.

Funny, if CZ made a target rimfire pistol somewhere in between the cost of the Ruger Mark IV series and the S&W Model 41 (but closer to the former), I'd be all over it. There are many CZ fans in the rimfire rifle world that might also take the plunge. Walther has an appealing option in this market space (the Walther PPQ 22, not the Walther P22 - similar naming has led people to believe they are the same product - and the P22 has an inconsistent review record), but frequently the best deals come with 12-rd mags (even though they sell with a 10-rd mag option) so I keep deferring waiting for similar sales with the 10-rd mags because I don't want to lose the mags in a purchase. Lol, will probably eventually come on CDNN, which won't even sell 5-rd revolvers to MD residents.

As per the slide change option, would be great if CZ did this for the Shadow, much like Sig also provides as a purchase option for their centerfire semi-automatic pistols. One could argue, why, because you can get 9mm at 17-18 cpr these days, but 22LR is still a quarter of the cost to shoot as decent ammo can be found in the 4-5 cpr range. So if one shoots a lot, the math might favor the 22LR option as long as the hardware change isn't crazy expensive.

In case you didn't know, the Blade-tech holster for the standard SP-01 fits my Shadow 2 just fine. I will be using this combo in a couple of weeks in a 3-gun match.

Never thought of that but it makes sense. The Shadow 2's slide is only .25" longer than the standard SP-01.
