During Katrina the authorities began to move through neighborhoods and confiscate LEGALLY OWNED firearms for "the public safety". Many of which were never repatriated with their owners after the crisis passed.

PROTIP: If it floods, you lost your firearms in a flooding accident. Your rights will never be extended in a crisis, only restricted as the government seeks to regain control.

Kind of stole my thunder in that Maryland would love to go full Ray Nagin.

Maryland socialist would love to have a declared disaster like Katrina and they would use the Guard to go house to house for all weapons you have on your 4473. Which the state government has a record of.

    Immmmpossible.

The state has no record of what's on a FEDERAL 4473. Those records are retained by the FFL available for FEDERAL inspection. The state would have a record of firearms on a 77r. But non regulated firearms and regulated firearms brought into the state before 10-1-2013 would not be in any state database.

The links within this thread are now broken, but I doubt that MD has erased the data that the thread refers to...

I'm sure MD has no record of purchases :sarcasm:

MD has no record of non regulated purchases and regulated firearms bought out of state before 10-1-13.

    Sorry to disappoint.

I do remember one time in the past, I forget what hurricane it was, where Hogan allowed people of Del who had CCW permits to be good in the counties that were right next to the state of DE. He allowed the people of Del to carry in MD for up to 72hrs on their permits..

This is the first I've ever heard of this. Have a cite for it?

I do remember it was Hogan who made the announcement. Now i am going back and looking at the storms that hit Del during that time frame. The counties that boarded DE were the only places where they could legally carry in MD during the evacuation from DE and if I remember right it was during Hurricane Sandy. Im not sure how long the info would stay on the internet but since that was back in 2013, Im not finding much information that Hogan put out during that time including the announcement that Hogan made in regards to People who lived in DE and had ccw could carry in MD for 72hrs.

Hogan was elected in 2014. So, no, you wont find anything official by him in 2013! It it definitely was not his predecesor O'Mao.

If any MD governor made any announcement about CCW during a storm, riot, or otherwise i feel sure I would remember it.

Was curious about MCDougs post and found a depressing search result. There are 308,556,223,300 results stating Hogan signs gun bills. I thought he was not changing MDs gun laws.

i believe you would see a suspension of firearm rights during a crisis under the guise of public safety, responder safety. How do LEOs feel?

Ok I went back and did some research since people are right and i have egg on my face about when Sandy did hit. It was during TS Hermine when Hogan allowed residents of DE who had Concealed Carry permits to carry in MD for 72hrs during that storm. I am going back looking for printed material for during that time in 2016. I do remember hearing about it on the radio but i am having trouble find it in print. I have found the executive orders he declared a limited state of emergency for the eastern shore of MD at the time. I am still digging and hope to find it soon. I am even looking into DE printed news papers online as well during that time. I wanted to come here and let people know yes i made a mistake saying it was during the time of Sandy as well. Stay safe everyone..
