Back in my waterfowl hunting days two of my friends and I were in a blind and had a flock come over us. We all aimed and shot and had one drop in the blind next to me. Didn't even think about the damage it could have caused us. We were just figuring one less to have to go and retrieve. Oh to be young and dumb....

I've seen quite a bit of damage to aircraft from bird strikes, but this is the first Kamikaze Canada Goose I have encountered.

Geese are a menace and must be stopped. Not funny at all that someone can be killed...

I had a goose "collision" when flying my quad 3 years ago. The @#&$ing thing attacked the quad from the side, wingspan and weight of the were a bit more than the quad itself. I lost a prop and with it all stability, fell into the edge of a shallow pond... Had to fish it out in 2ft of nasty goose poop-covered water.

They don't tell you that birds have a 3D view of their surroundings and will attack something they perceive as a competitor who's too big to eat but not big enough to fly away from.

Cost me all 4 motors and ESCs, but the autopilot was actually ok after it dried.

Well, it sure beats taking a few in the Starboard engine and having to declare an emergency and praying that none got into the Port engine as well.

Am I reading into this a little too much or, are you giving us hints that it may have been you that got goosed?

Fortunately and unfortunately I haven't fired a single round in 2018.

I was reading the story on DM(UK) and they mentioned the teeth, whereas none of the US "reporters" did.

I can relate... we shot a bunch of geese overhead one day years ago and one was heading towards the blinds.. my buddy said "he's coming in!", so I just crouched down as low as I could get in the haybale blind (really doesn't have much of a 'roof' and we had flipped it open to shoot the birds.)

The bird came down right on my head, knocked me to the dirt and his head whacked me on the back of the head hard enough to raise a golf ball sized welt!

Yes, they did present me with a camo football helmet the following weekend... :lol2:

We shoot a lot of geese and we have had some close calls since, but I always keep an eye on the falling birds now!

    Is he an MDS member?

Not to my knowledge, I may see him around some time up to the school or ball field or something. It would be interesting to know how it went down. Did he hit one and move to another, did the guy next to him bust one that he didn't see coming and it flattened him?
They must have been pitching right in or maybe they were pass shooting and it came at him from afar.
I could see something like that happening, have an open spot right in front of the blind and next thing you know your spitting Chiclets.
Lucky it didn't get worse for the poor guy or the fella next to him.
