What paint will stick to solder? The Birchwood Casey just wipes right off. It's a thumb release, so the paint will have to resist wear. Any suggestions? Do I have to treat the solder before it will hold paint?
Got hobby or craft shop and get some paint.

Cerakote?
Baked rattle can love you long time.
Scuff and degrease part.
Rattle can prime.
Rattle can paint.
Bake in oven. 170 degrees for 30 minutes. 225 degrees for 60 minutes.
Done.
please post a pic of the slide release. Might need to do the same
I've had great results with lacquer~ as in $1 nail polish in any color or degree of gloss you like and just 1$ at $Tree store. Air dries quickly to a hard finish. Any touch ups later are free and blends right in. PatI'm going this route. So far I've primed and one coat of matte finish spray enamel. I'm going to let it dry for 24 hours, put another coat on, then do the oven bake cycles you recommended. The solder doesn't melt until 450 degrees Fahrenheit, so I should have no problem in the oven, right?
