I am a big believer in these model 60's. I have two and got my son one for his birthday this year. In the spirit of economy, I recommend the Simmons ".22 magnum" scope for anyone looking. I've bought 4 of these over the years for plinking easy to find for under $50 buck shipped on Ebay.

That is awesome that she wants to get into the hobby. I love the traffic light ;-)
We did, a few weeks ago. All her presents were wrapped and stuffed in that box - she was pretty upset when she got up early to walk the Christmas dog and didn't see anything under the tree with her name on it
We had to have a cabinet in place before she got the Marlin, plus it's easier to keep all our guns in one locked cabinet than in various locked boxes.
