This is really the right answer to the OP's question if a 16" barrel is a requirement. 6.5 Grendel hits like a truck, can go a thousand yards, and has factory hunting loads available to it. 10rd mags are easily available online, and when things settle down again, has steel-case ammo available for higher-volume shooting.
