I currently have a pile of Syperco knives in a dresser drawer. I have seen some zipper cases, etc., what do you guys use?

the plastic lure boxes for fishing, strong, adjustable compartments, cheap, some are air tight and stackable, best if you have a lot of good stuff to keep safe.

I save the original boxes and packaging, you can store it in that plus it will make the knife more desirable to future collectors.
But I don't use most of my knives and most of the newer ones are in or on their boxes in display cases.
Switchblades and assisted openers are kept open so the springs don't weaken.

Regarding springs, I keep hearing, in regard to magazine springs specifically, that compressed or relaxed storage makes zero difference. Weakening results from the actual use - compression and decompression cycles - rather than storage position.

I admit to not being a mechanical engineer.

I have heard the same thing about storing single action autos open but in safe practice, I have had some of my autos for over 30 years and cannot detect any weakening of the springs or slowing of the actions at all, be they Italian stilettos or Benchmade D2s. Double action OTFs are tensioned in either position anyways so they definitely do not matter at all.
