I stopped by Bass Pro in Harrisburg today. Was looking at picking up a Remington 870. Pulled my drivers license out and he said he couldn't sell to a Maryland resident. I told him, "That's ridiculous". He got a condescending tone and tried to explain the MD law to me. I told him that there was nothing in the law about a standard pump shotgun. They were still cash and carry after an NICS check. The smug prick said that it was corporate policy. I asked him if it was corporate policy, are they allowed to sell firearms in Arundel Mills. I just left, because I didn't feel like raising a stink. It's their store and they can sell or not sell. I just hate it when people, that are supposed to know better, give bad information. :mad54:

Hmmm - is it corporate policy so that you will buy at Arundel Mills Bass Pro instead? Since Bass Pro has a presence in Maryland, may be corporate has directed all their other stores to allow the Maryland store to deal with Maryland'ers?

Cabelas had the same shotgun for $70 more. It was also synthetic stock compared to the walnut at BP. Heck with them both. I think I'll give my money to a LGS. Might have to order one from the Gunshop.

I was in Dick's two weeks ago and was buying some ammo since I had a $20 gift certificate. There was a guy in front me looking at long rifles and the employee refused to sell to him because he was from PA. Sounds like a common problem in the big box stores. Happens to out of staters here too.

Probably easier for them with the level of employee.

I bought a shotgun at a Gander Mountain out of state. They just looked up the list of regulated firearms (WELL before 10/1/13) and if it was not on the list, they would sell.

Bass pro has taken a lot of heat due to their ammo sale practices. So a couple years ago they revised their corporate policies to be very restrictive. I have had similar situations on mags.

Cabelas is king. For us MD-ers anyway. Still for new rifles/shotguns/pistols I buy local gun store. They need our support.

This must be relatively new. I have a friend who bought a regulated firearm and a non-regulated firearm from them last year and they shipped at least the regulated one to Md (obviously) for the transfer. I'm not sure about the unregulated one though.

My wife went to Bass Pro Arundel Mills and after standing in line to inquire about ammo, she was totally ignored. When she asked for help she was told "This is a men's area" I won't repeat her loud response, but let's just say it drew more attention than the extended middle finger that has the same meaning!!

She would file a complaint and get some free ammo.
