Took a quick trip to Southern Illinois to see my Dad. Small gun shop in Pana, IL had eight Garands, three 1903A3, and two 1903s. All CMP Rack, Field and Service grade. $900 - $1300.

In addition to the cool guns they had several ARs between $800-$1000.

I haven’t had a FOID card in years so I couldn’t buy any.

    No ammo to speak of.

    Trepang,

Pardon my ignorance regarding Illinois gun laws, but for the old military guns, could a C&R License holder purchase the gun and then have it shipped out of state to MD? In that case, I assume it would be handled like any other FFL-to-FFL transfer and not run afoul of state law.

    Asking for a friend... :innocent0

Sorry for the delay in responding - drove back to Maryland yesterday.

So the FOID in IL covers long guns too? Ouch. I guess that's coming here as well.

Yes....FOID required for ALL firearm and ammo purchases

I did not ask about a C&R license but I am 99.99% certain, you still need a FOID.

I did not ask about buying one and having it shipped to a MD FFL based on the huge sign that read "FOID REQUIRED FOR ALL PURCHASES - NO EXCEPTIONS".

My 87 year old Dad has a letter from the Illinois State Police extending his FOID expiration due to COVID associated delays in getting the new cards out. He renewed his but just hasn't gotten the actual card yet.

While at Walmart they were putting out 1400 round buckets of .22LR. They would not sell to him because his card was expired and store policy was must have a valid card - not an expired card with a letter extending it. SMH.

An out-of-state FFL holder (C&R, -01, etc) is not eligible for an FOID, not being an Illinois resident. So if the shop wanted to conduct out-of-state sales they'd have to bypass their "no exceptions" rule :) That rule probably is there for in-store sales.

Only one way to be sure - "pick up the phone, give 'em a call" cause even if it's legal they might not do it. Some folks don't think an FFL-03 is a "real" license. :sad20:
