This article is hysterical for a few reasons. Curious what the thoughts might be around this, especially since he espouses the same anti-gunner ******** I see everywhere else. I support Hogan...for now, but really, the choices are becoming less and less attractive.

    A few highlights:
    "AK15" - Nice...

"[The Parkland kids] have seized the moral authority on the issue of gun regulation which began as a national movement after 17 schoolkids and teachers were gunned down by a deranged schoolmate at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., whose warning signs were ignored by the adults in charge." - Do you, per chance, mean: the social workers involved with his case, the FBI, the local PD, and the school administration? Not "the adults in charge." That's a big distinction to make.

"During the past session, the General Assembly outlawed “bump stocks,” the add-on gizmo that converts a semi-automatic weapon into a machine gun." - Again, no. Not by legal or objective definition does a bump stock convert a semi into a machine gun.

These kinds of articles bother me so, so much, because opinion and emotion-driven verbiage muddy the waters of fact, and as we all see on a daily basis, people repeatedly vomit whatever they've heard / read / saw on Facebook out as fact. I'm only hoping the monthly viewership on "Maryland Matters" is pretty low.

You are correct is does muddy the waters, that is really the goal of this article. The writer's bias is clearly shown along with their lack of knowledge. Divide and conquer.

Not quite sure I'm following you. The "order" in which the adults involved allowed that kid to fully semiautomatic was: mom, school officials, local PD/sheriff, and THEN the FBI. The kid had a long history of violent behavior known to adults with close access to him. His lack of an arrest and prohibition-generating conviction record was because of school-level policies and local PD brush-off. The bungled FBI stuff was way down stream from all of that. Doesn't let them off the hook, but nor does it put them first on the list. Hogan is right that a lot of people in Florida dropped the ball with that kid. Notice that Hogan's not blaming the gun for what happened.

Fair enough, I'll edit the order. I'd say parent, THEN the social workers that basically dismissed his case as 'low-risk' (apparently, due to too many cases) after filing reports in which they mention his intentions to purchase firearms in tandem with statements indicating a proclivity for violence / apathy for human life.

Just re-read this. Did you read the article? I'm confused by the statement above because to be clear, Hogan didn't write that article. A pro-Jealous wrote it, against Hogan. In fact, the literal last line of the article blames the guns.

These threads remind of that book we all read in the 80's. It was a classic.

    Dear Lord,

Thank you for providing MDS with another reason to debate Hogan vs Jealous.

Give us this day our daily thread.

    You're welcome :D

No, but for real - the choices increasingly being between shit sandwich and giant douche certainly makes one recall the South Park episode about picking their new mascot.

Echo chamber must be strong tonight..

If you read the link.. I think he meant ar15.

"*The gunman’s weapon of choice was the ever-popular AK15 assault rifle, dubbed “America’s gun,” one of nearly a dozen weapons in 19-year-old Nicholas Cruz’s personal arsenal."

    He said America.. not Russia.

We still need to vote for Hogan he is the lesser of two evils.
Lol, I think we need to get Hogan a t-shirt with "The Lesser of Two Evils" emblazoned on it. Or "At least I'm not the Socialist". They can be his informal campaign slogans.

And at least on most fiscal issues, Hogan is really much much better than Jealous. Not simply the lesser of two evils, but a good choice.
