I built an AR for my daughter as a combined high school / boot camp graduation gift. I still have it at my house, waiting for her to get leave to drive up here and pick it up. I guess I need to mail it to her so she can be in possession of it just in case this bill passes.

They want to ban all semi automatics with detachable magazines and anything with a fixed magazine greater than ten. Ergo, they want to ban firearms except hunting rifles, this is the shot across the bow. They can’t deny their true intentions anymore.

The Republicans have anticipated this strategic move by the Democrats and are prepared for the attack.

    I understand frustration...

But must it be compounded with so much woe is us... defeatist rhetoric?

It's not like it adds one iota of encouragement to those already wondering... "...what's the use?"

We need to get the youth target shooters, youth hunters, youth firearms supporters energized, and parents of children who support gun rights.

Single people can contribute of course, but I think this is a battle that needs to be lead by parents and children.

After all, I can quote facts all day, but I don't have a kid who goes to school, I don't understand the terror a parent feels when they hear about a school shooting. I don't sit in a high school every day full of kids.

My facts sold cold and out of touch, and the person listening most likely tunes them out.

    They think thats a start!

Navy Yard Shooter used a pump action shotgun.

In other news : Dems fear overreach.

Still it comes as other Democrats warn that embracing aggressive new gun restrictions carries risks, particularly in conservative-leaning districts where gun rights are sacrosanct.

Ryan and McConnell should schedule a vote on aggressive bans..... yesterday!

Honestly, too late. Dems like Murphy and Pelosi are already promoting bans.

If they'd look up the definition of "assault rifle" the spec of "selectable fire" right away rules out any semi auto, obviously they seek to change the definition

What pisses me off is no one is stating facts.

300 killed by rifles 2016 and not all where school children

Have to confirm but something like 12 of the last 15 mass shooters were over 21 , Sandy Hook was done by a 20 year old son he didn't acquire it legally
So should be 13 of 15

These infringements will do nothing and they know it. It is just fuel to the fire of banning everything

Just read this early this morning, so basically it sounds like they want make themselve feel better by banning "ANY" semiautomatic weapon from being imported sold or transfered... so that would mean no handguns unless it is a revolver... and no rilfes unless its a bolt action.... This is how the Nazis and other dictators and Socialists came to power....

This is a move to pander to the Left's base ahead of the November elections.

Deep down, they have no stomach for this. Look up what happened to the Democrats in 1994 after they passed the AWB. They'll never make that same mistake again. No party will.

I'd be more concerned with Executive Orders being used as precedent to ban more and more Second Amendment rights through the use of more and more Executive Orders signed by more and more US Presidents.

The thought of the SCOTUS upholding such executive whims would be the death knell for 2A rights in America.

That's a dangerous assumption. There are idiots who simply don't know better, and reptiles who do but are playing the long game, who would be all too happy to vote YEA on a bill that outlawed private firearm ownership.

It's probably all hot air, but never underestimate the opposition.

I'd like to believe that but doubling down on dumb seems to be a specialty of governments, especially more liberal ones.
