SW Shield ammo question

I didn't know where else to post this, so I will leave it here.
Admins, please move it to it's proper place if necessary, thanks.

I bought an SW Shield 9mm 3.5" bbl from a fellow member.

Recently I traded for some ammo. The ammo in question is Remington Golden Saber 147gr BJHP (BONDED JHP).

After reading the Lucky Gunner ammo test, I'm not so sure if I want/can shoot this in the Shield.

According to the Lucky Gunner test this ammo exceeds the FBI protocol of 12"-18" penetration in gelatin. Which means over penetration could result in the bullet exiting a body with the possibility of hitting an innocent bystander.
Certainly not something that I want to be concerned with IF I ever had to use it.

Am I reading to much into this, or it is a real concern?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Just my opinion but I think any bullet (even round nose) have the ability to penetrate through and through.

God forbid you find yourself in a life or death situation that requires the use of deadly force you probably won’t have time or worry to think about the bullet penetrating through

Type of pistol doesn't determine penetration. Shield or otherwise.

Was there any clothing over that gelatin for the test? Was there any bones in that gelatin?

Are you carrying out in public to worry about a shoot through hitting a bystander?

Use that ammo.

Being able to make a first shot hit is more important than worrying about over penetrating a chest cavity.

From the LG testing website:

MEDIUM: CLEAR BALLISTICS SYNTHETIC GEL (no bones)
BARRIER: FOUR LAYER FABRIC (denim)
TEST GUN: SMITH & WESSON M&P9C

If I HAD to shoot, over penetration would probably not enter my mind at the time.
But, I am being concerned about over penetration before a situation may arise.

Get different ammo then instead of thinking this to death.
Get some 124 grain hollow point of something else.

It's really not worth all the thought to be honest.

Your probably right.
Think I’ll just trade off for other 9mm.
I always over think stuff.

It is 1.8" above the max. Not a lot. If it over penetrated, it would be pretty weak coming out. Clothing would greatly slow or stop it
Actually, given how many bullets miss and are not aimed well enough to hit mass, most bullets shot are likely to overpenetrate.

Short answer - Use the same defensive ammo in your 9mm Shield that you prefer to use in full size 9mm .
