it's not really "gun smithing" but doing it wrong might require some gun smithing sooo i'm posting it here.

I have a few rifles that are black (ar15 and savage 110ba stealth) that i would like to lighten up the color on a bit. I'm "afraid" to do it myself in fear of ruining it etc etc.

Does anyone know a walk in shop that i can take it to and paint it up?

Here’s how this is gonna go.

You’ll pay someone and love the results

You’ll do it, get similar results but be mad at minor imperfections

Ceracoat/duracoat is nice and has its place. I considered putting out a few hundred dollars to have my guns ceracoated, but I'm sure glad I didn't. For less than $10 I had two rifles that I sprayed with the Rustoleum camo paint you can buy at Walmart. Just tape up the sights/any openings and spray multiple light coats on a degreased gun. The paint once properly dried is actually pretty tough, but if you scratch or chip it, no worries. Just spray it again.
