I am new to The Forum and to guns. I live in Montgomery County. I have a couple questions. New to purchasing guns, when purchasing a gun online how is this form 77r filled out? I looked at the buying process on Grabagun and it doesn't mention the form anywhere in the process. Also I found an M&P 2.0 9mm 10r gun range kit that comes with a holster 3 mags a speed loader mag holster but the SKU number for the kit is not on the roster. The gun is on the roster it's just a different SKU number because it comes in a kit. Am I able to have it transferred to me after online purchase? Does the address on my license have to match the address on the 77r? When I filled it out I put n/a for my occupation is that an issue?

Pretty much you find a dealer in the state that is willing to do the transfer for you. If the seller does not have a copy of their ffl on file you will have to send them one. Pay for your item and when it arrives at the dealer you will fill out your 77R and 4473. Pay the transfer fee and wait the ridiculous waiting period. For anyone looking for trouble, there are no loopholes and you still go through the same back round checks. Just make sure that you ask the local dealer for permission as they will want to confirm the Maryland legality of the item and don't want to be surprised by a random shipment. Before buying and factor in their fee into your budget.

    e. Unless you are exempt your HQL class/freedom tax probably covered the process on the form. Since you are new to guns I doubt that you have a handgun already and may have to do the required training and fingerprinting to get your handgun license. If not check out someone local or an industry partner here for help with a class and finger printing.

Thanks I have the gun license already I meant the address on my driver's license does it have to match the address on the 77r. Do I have to keep the gun in the address that is stated on the form

It has a different SKU than the regular 10 round M&P9 M2.0 and can’t be purchased until it shows up on the list with the other model numbers. It appears (if I’m understanding their document correctly) to have been recently reviewed by the review board and should be appearing on the list in the next couple of months.

Since you are new to guns and this is your first post it is nice to stop in at the Introductions section and introduce yourself. Tell us a little about you and what your interests are. In addition most questions new people ask have been answered and the answers can be found using the search engine.

As far as ordering on line you will still have to get a FFL involved to transfer the guns to you. Many people find that after you add in shipping and transfer fees many local gun stores are competitively priced. We have a number of Industry Partners who help support this site and they are all listed in the Industry Partners section, you might want to check with a couple of them about what you are looking for because if they don't have it they can probably get it for you.

Your legal/official address must be on your DL and the 77r. Yes, they must match.
I advise finding a local FFL who is willing to transfer an online purchase to you- policies vary wildly among FFL's. Do this before shopping online.
If you're buying a common firearm (such as a M&P 2.0) if you factor shipping and transfer fees, a local FFL can often beat an online purchase.

But, shipping and a $30 to $50 transfer feel will bring it right in the same price range.

I suggest that you contact John at Gymratz and see what he can do for you. He gets some fantastic prices and many of our members are happy with his prices and service. ;)

You can contact him from the Industry Partners section of the forum.

An FFL will charge you a transfer fee. Also shipping. The difference probably won't turn out to be that great a deal.

I'm not trying to be rude, so please follow me on this pretty accurate comparison...
    $469 Pistol
    $25 Shipping
    $50 MD FFL Transfer
    $10 MD State Police fee
    -------
    $554 To take home

After sales tax, buying local would cost about $20 more. Local dealers collect MD sales tax but they don't charge a FFL transfer fee on something they are selling and there aren't any shipping charges.
You would build rapport with a dealer and help a local small business. Once a dealer knows you are a spending customer, they will be more likely to work out deals with you.

EDITED TO ADD: Online purchases are great for oddball, hard to find or high dollar items. Your common things like a Glock 19 are usually better purchase locally.

Shipping is $8 trans is $40 msp 10. There's no gun shop that has it and if they did it would be more than $530. Because they are selling the gun by itself for 530 and up. And if I were to buy the gun by itself it's $409 from the same online shop

Additionally, you have a longer wait time when you factor in shipping, not that great deals don't exist.

Can you share where you're looking to buy from? I'm planning on picking up another M&P9 M2.0 and was looking at the range kit. My local shop would be $615 after MDSP fee so once it's added to the list if I might as well save some money on it.

Grabagun I brought up the different SKU with the FFL and according to him he said the kit doesn't matter as long as the gun is the same they'll transfer it. In light of what I'm learning from here I'm going to call back and speak with the owner to make sure they will transfer it. Because if I wait till when it's on the list I'm sure the price will be higher I think it may be a Christmas deal

The Roster Board lists acceptable firearms by Manufacturer, Model and Caliber not SKU.
