    I have been to Gilbert in Rockville, and the Machine Gun Nest in Frederick. I like shooting rifles, and pistols, not into shotguns or muzzle loaders yet..

    Would like to check out some of the outdoor ranges in the area, but have not had the opportunity..

    Welcome aboard. A lot of good knowledge here. If you want to try a good outdoor range I would recommend Tango Down range in Hedgesville, WV. They have a lot of steel targets to shoot. Check them out.

    Do you know about the indoor range at Hendershots on route 40 right before the exit for I70? They have a number of firearms to rent for range. Only went there when they first opened. Check out their webpage.
