    Ruger Redhawk 8 shot 357

8-shot 357 snubbie from Ruger has me interested... I was thinking about a s&W 686+ but this may be more toward what I want. anyone know anything about these good or bad?

I'm interested in one of these, but I'm waiting for a longer barrel model to be released. The only obvious philosophy of use I can see for this snubbie is a backpack gun. It would seem to be too chunky for CCW. I'm not really a backpacker, so I don't have a lot of use for this one. Also contemplating a S&W 627 8 shot...they have some longer barreled versions...only issue I have with S&W is that huge gap in the frame with the cylinder, forcing cone etc. It may not bother some people but I think it is very unsightly. I do think S&W's older models are prettier than most Rugers, but the 627 is ugly to me.

now see, I didn't even know the 627 pro existed... I better do some more homework. while I don't care for the fame/cylinder gap either, it's not enough to keep me from it. This purchase is for function. Ideally I'd like to see which one fits better in my hand.

I never liked snubbies for backpack guns, always preferred a 4" barrel so I stand a chance of hitting something at further than point blank range.

Saw it, handled it, just didn't seem right to me. Although .357 is my all time fav for wheel guns, I'd rather have the Redhawk BP as a sixer in .44M or .45LC.
