First time out: .30-30 TC

Went out for opening of gun season in VA. I hiked in with a pack and camped overnight; something I hadn’t done in years. Brought along, for the first time, my TC Contender 16” ss carbine in .30-30 wearing a Leupold VXR 1-4 Patrol w/ firedot, and an Amtac CQBm suppressor. Of course, didn’t see a thing. At least it proved easy to carry.
Still like a bad day of fishing...

Nice little set-up you have there, all the way around. It's never about the kill, though that's ultimately why we're out there. You had nice weather and a good time. Cheers!

First Contender I had was 10” 30-30 handgun. It shot extremely well. Bit then all the Contenders do.

I finally have this kit (almost... maybe) complete. It has: 16" barrels wearing Leupold in .22lr (Freedom rimfire 2-7x32) .223 (AR 3-9x40 w/ 55gr BDC), .30-30 mentioned, and .45/.410 (obviously no glass), also 10" .22 and a .45/410 (w/ appropriate stock set). My goal for this year is to get a pelican like case with custom cut foam to schlep it around in... but then the idea of getting a straight wall case barrel (maybe .357 Max and use my Rugged 9mm can) came up with the rule change in MD since I'm in a (formerly) shotgun only county.
