How to get rid of carpenter bees

I have a nice supply of CRC brake clean that knocks them (and every other insect) right out. I love the trap video that E.Shell posted and I plan to build some. Carpenter bees return to the same spot to breed every year.

My wasp spray has too narrow a stream (or my eyesight stinks) and I rarely hit them. Need a fogger type spray to slow them.

In one of the you tube videos of a young woman making traps she used a bit of honey in the bottom of the traps. Bee honey that is.

I just put one together and hung it under the deck. On a hot day with a racket we get about 12 or more. :mad54:

I never seen carpenter bee's go into cca treated wood, stained wood or even painted wood. What ever they do they're a pain in the backside. A badminton racquet hanging from a snap swivel and 20# test might keep them away though.

And

There are versions that have the entry holes under the edge of the block (vs on the vertical face), more where you usually see carpenter bee bores, and I think they'd be more effective, but what I've linked obviously works.

i never knew there was such a thing. don't mind them around the yard but they become pretty territorial around my shed. I may put one or two of these around there and see how they do. Thanks for posting.

Built one with 6-7 more to go but they have already bored the holes (and laid eggs I presume) so will need to fill them in with the foamy insecticide. Hopefully, we can get a handle on them for next year.
