so now we have a red fox and a pup roaming the woods behind our house. Occasionally up into the back yard. Interesting to watch... seems like foxes have made a real comeback, I don't remember seeing many at all growing up but now they seem like they are very prolific.

lot more rabbits running around our neighborhood these days probably had something to do with it...

I haven't yet figured out where their obviously nearby den is, but we've got a clan of at least four foxes that hunt their way through our yard and roam the 'hood every night. Earlier this spring, during mating season, we were getting Klingon Opera every night - fantastic to listen to, even if it does sometimes come across like screaming teenagers in a slasher movie. The foxes and the raccoons seem to have a well scheduled system for who gets to raid the weekly recycle bins every night. The crows do the rest.

Here's one of our neighborhood's younger vixens not too long ago, just at twilight. She'd been hunting doves under our bird feeder.

All five baby goslings on the neighbor's pond disappeared over night, and a fox was seen patrolling the fields the next day. He was likely the culprit. I know it's nature and all, but I always feel bad for the hen who sits on eggs for almost a full month, giving up her own health and safety, manages against the odds to hatch out a good number, and then loses them to a random predator three days later.

I love ducks but Canada geese are an invasive species in my book. :mad54:

Noisy too. Like to party all night. Might have to make some loud noises to get them to vacate the creek.

FTR, we have silver and red foxes roaming around Lusby.

As a drone enthusiast, anything that reduces the geese population has my full approval.

Nearby pond down the street from me used to be chock full of geese 3-4 years ago... Then started noticing foxes nearby... A lot less geese now, and they don't congregate in packs 30 deep anymore.

If only something would eat the deer... Not much chance for any kind of hunting in my part of Baltimore County, and they know it!

There is a den on a farm on 543 in street. I see several young ones out early in the am and late evening. They are neat to watch for the 5 seconds I see them driving by.

I have a den with a vixen and 6 pups on my hill. Fun to watch them run around. Mom is a hell of a hunter. Every time is see her she is carrying something dead to feed them.

Security cam caught one sleeping on the front porch welcome mat one afternoon. The sun keeps that spot nice and warm.

I don’t think people are hunting them like back in the day when a hide scored around $75 in the 80’s-early 90’s. Plus I believe the DNR requires a furbearers license now.
Very true. There was a time we got $100 for a big male with good color. A decent fox doesn't pay enough now to make it worth skinning unless one can't get a job at McDonalds. Same with many furbearers.

The Furbearer Permit is an easy deal and costs $5.00 a year.

Resident geese ARE an invasive species.
