FNS9 Slide modification for optic

I have an FNS9 and would like to put on an optic like the Vortex Venom red dot. Has anyone done that with their FNS9 or know what would be involved? Will I need a new slide? Can the original one be modified? Cost?

I just did a quick google search for FNS9 milled slide and it looks like several companies offer the service for various prices. You would have to send the slide out, but it can be done.

You would have to send the slide out to be cut. I would suggest you add suppressor-height sights as well, to clear the optic. I thought about doing this to my FNS-9 but will probably end up letting go of my FNS-9 and getting a 509 when things die down.

That was my other thought. Just getting the 509. I guess it depends on how much it would cost to make the modifications to the FNS9.

Do you know if the magazines for the FNS9 will work with the 509?

FNS-9 mags will not work with the 509, unless you change the base plate out for 509 baseplates or modify your baseplates by removing some material. 509 mags will work, unmodified, in the FNS-9

I checked out your link. That seems cheap enough. Better than buying new magazines.... Thanks for sharing.
