AMMO Find! Help.

I came across some old ammo that was my fathers from years ago. Its been sitting in a 50cal steel ammo can. I have attached some pictures of the ammo in an attempt to get some information about the ammo. I'm sure some of you will be able to tell me about it. Any details will be appreciated. It is all 22LR. There is a price tag on the 500round box of Lightning that says .90cents. LOL. WOW!

My guess is that the ammo will still shoot good since it has been stored well. Thoughts?

No corrosion on the cases, no oil soaked boxes. Probably shoots like the day it was loaded

It will shoot just fine.

I don't think that stuff will work at all. Could be pretty dangerous even to try, you should let me take it off your hands just to be safe.

Really, I don't mind, I can come by and pick it up any time.

Best guess is 80's vintage. The Lightning I either still have a brick of, or I not too long ago finished it up.

How was it to shoot? What would you compare it to in todays ammo?

Needs to be older but in general if I find anything even remotely old i keep a box just to sit on the shelf

Federal Lightning was Plain Jane high speed lead round nose .22lr. Your typical plinking variety. Nothing special about it really.

Spitfire was a hyper velocity round. Think more in the line of Remington Viper and Yellowjacket, CCI Stinger and similar rimfire offerings.

Not sure of particulars on the Hi Speed.

The Lightning was the Remington Thunderbolt of the Federal line. It was aimed at the same market.

Years ago I shot the HI-speed ,and the Lighting.
I kinda remember the hi speed being better, but it was a long time ago. The lighting was federal’s answer to Remington’s thunderbolts
