I got bored so I decided a few months ago that I would build a shotgun part by part. Over 7-8 months I collected, bought, traded and karma parts from guns shows, Gun Broker, and Karma. Outside of the stock and forend and the stripped receiver and mag tube the remaining parts are from other other shotguns.

I picked up a 28" mod vent ribbed bbl and cut it down to 19.5" and the entire project was under $200. its not about the $$ its about the hobby and building something Remington 870's. I learned alot more than I bargained for because the trigger assembly fell apart on me so it took an hour figuring how to reassemble it having no knowledge of it in the first place.

    LMK what you think???

The finished product!! I only wished the Cold Blacking process had more of an evening finish BUT with the receiver rusted this was the best I could do. the next one I do will be duracoated...which I want to try next anyway.

you can get alumihide in a spray can from brownells. other surface coatings also. they work great

    Very nice... I like it.
I've been thinking about building up a Mossberg 500 the same way.
I have a home powdercoating kit that I'd like to try out on it.
    Looks like a fun project.

    Looks pretty darn good!

You know, you could rust blue it, for a real nice finish, but the barrel may be unmanageable....
