Much better comparison image than the ones I linked from Ruger.

Like Mark said, you don't have an LCP max.

Hope you just have a name mixup and didn't end up with the wrong pistol. ;)

That’s the MAX 9, not the LCP MAX. LCP MAX is close in size to the LCP II.

Thanks guys Brain Fart for some reason I thought they were both LCP-MAX and the 9mm was Just called LCP-MAX-9. I also remember seeing two LCP-MAX threads but I can’t find the other one. I just corrected my post accordingly.

MAX 9 is a solid choice, I got one in August right when they were approved, I had pre-paid a few months early in a LGS. For me it feels good in the hand, well balanced, and love the sight picture and trigger as you called out. My dislikes were around the takedown pin that requires a tool or improvised tool to punch it for basic disassembly, in this size a lever would have been easy to implement, and the rattle when shaken can be somewhat annoying.

My small CCW options that I own and use and compare closely are now fairly broad and include MAX-9, P365, G43X, G26, G29, LC9s, LCP I, LCP II (.380 and .22LR).

I’ve carried all of these between IWB and pocket but the most frequently carried overall has been the P365 with a 12rd standard (getting ready to pick up an XL grip frame as an option) and the 15rd as a backup mag.

Ironic timing of your posts though- I just did paperwork yesterday on an LCP MAX and I believe that one will lead to the end of carrying my LCP I and II’s. It’s an outstanding option when comparing size, weight, capacity, and the sights on this one are night and day vs the older LCP’s, much closer to what the MAX-9 has.

Picked up the LCP Max this evening- amazing how close it is in dimensions to the LCP II just with more rounds. Max has the standard 10rd inserted in the pics while the II has the extended 7rd.

I can’t believe how much smaller and lighter mine is compared to even the p365. It shoots a little low for me, but I believe this is mostly due to my learning the sight picture.
I have put >100 rounds through it with no failures. Ammo is hard to find locally, so haven’t done my usual 500 rd brake in before adding it to my rotation. My only complaint is that It only comes with one magazine and they are hard to find locally.

I wear size 9 gloves and it does take getting used to shooting a small gun. Years ago I got rid of my LCP O because I couldn’t stand the trigger. This trigger is much better.

    Really easy to pocket carry.

I need another subcompact auto? I love subcompact autos. My first was a Star Firestar in the 90’s.

Picked up my 12rd mags at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Roanoke, will be taking this one out for some break in shooting this weekend. Should carry nicely and be more accurate with the better sights.

That is amazing. We truly are living in the golden era of carry guns with stuff like this, the P365, etc.

That's part of the problem for me, it's almost too small to pocket carry. I'm a big guy with big pockets, and when I used to try to pocket carry my LCP, it would end up rotating from the "muzzle down" position. I'd have to constantly adjust it. I'd like to find a holster that has a large enough footprint for bigger pockets, because something like this would be perfect to throw in the pocket when I'm just going to walk my dog or something and don't feel like dressing around the gun.

I wonder if this pistol would fix the problem I have with my LCP2. Basically, I have to use the 7 rd mag because with the 6 rd mag I somehow press the mag release almost every time I fire, causing the mag to drop just enough that the next round doesn't get picked up. For some reason this doesn't happen with 7 rd mags.

    I have pretty big paws...

    Wait...doesn't "I want one" = Justification?

Or do you need to make a pitch to the chairwoman?

Quite frankly, since I got my Sig 365, I haven't really carried any of my .380's. When my daily carry gun was a S&W M&P, I would switch to a .380 depending on my dress. Now, I find the P365 seems to fit all my carry needs and the .380's seem to be relegated to safe queens.

I’ve carried my LCP at the ready when going to the range to shoot the rest of my carry guns. I suppose I could carry one and remove and reholster but just easier to carry a different option.

I picked up my LCP Max this evening. Hopefully I’ll get some time at the range with it this weekend.

One thing I noticed is how different the trigger feels when compared to the Max9. Mainly this is due to the LCP Max is hammer fired. The travel is probably 3/8” more than the MAX9 and the break has a more clunk feel. I don’t think any of that will matter for it’s intended purpose.

 I am picking one up from 7-day jail next week. The LCP Max hammer is apparently not completely and fully SA from some reviews that I've seen, the first trigger pull cocks it a tiny bit before release. Again, no doubt that it doesn't really matter that much for intended purpose.

No it’s 100% SA. However you are right when you engage the trigger there is a very long takeup play. Then when you start to feel resistance, you can seem the hammer inside of the slide, move down about 1/16” then it breaks forward. I think this is more just how the trigger release works. It would be cool if it were SA/DA.

Definitely poor word choice on my part. I may or may not have been a few 120 Minute IPAs deep while online last night. :D

You are correct. It's definitely a SA in that the slide must be racked to fire and the trigger cannot fully cock the trigger on its own. However, the hammer is also not 100% cocked by racking the slide (what I was trying to get at in my last post). The Max uses the Ruger's secure action fire control system (also on the 57 and LCP II, IIRC). That last tiny bit of downward/rearward movement of the hammer when the trigger is squeezed is the hammer being fully cocked just before being released.
