    "I had been talking with Mr. Wheeler last week regarding the State Police claim that over 50,000 citizens had their firearms purchases given to them, per State Law, after waiting the legally determined 7 days for the State Police to do a criminal background check. It is being alleged that 200 of the 50,000 persons turned out to be disqualified from being able to purchase a firearm in Maryland. It now turns out that 1 firearm, out of the 50,000 was eventually used in a crime."

    I said back in the summer that this would happen with release before getting ND. The dealer or individual who released that gun is going to be hating life.

    And the rest of the question , would this 1 in 50,000 purchaser have been tripped up by MSP , but Not by NICS ? Or would have allowing point of sale NICS handled the situation ?

    Wonder if Mike should request the $cost of this vs using NICS. Let the clown party see what is being wasted that they'd prefer to waste elsewhere.

    Both of these. Someone needs to do an analysis of the MSP system to see how it stacks up to NICS and compare that benefit (if any) to the cost of the system.

    With this 1 in 50,000 in particular, someone should really find out if NICS would have caught them. That would be a damning indictment.

    Really? Why? They were complying with the law. It was the MSP overreaching its authority by pressuring dealers into waiting until the paperwork came back, which is still running close to four months (not seven days) for purchases made without the HQL.

    Because that's the way it works in MD for Gun Dealers. MD Politicians and the MSP messes up things royally and they get a pass by the media. A Dealer releases a gun before the annointing of the "King" and the "King" and the Media gets angry when bad things happen with the gun.

    If the MSP or BATFE wants a Gun Dealer out of Business they WILL make it happen.

    You can ignore it, but its reality none the less.

    This is worth some effort finding out if the individual would have been caught by NICS. Anyone have an idea if it is possible to get this information under the auspices of a MD public info. act request? Would the MSP be the recipient of the request?

    So .004% of those who applied should not have gotten their weapon and .00002% were actually used in a crime. Wow huge crime wave.

    Pardon me in advance for my anal retentiveness, but...

    Gotta multiply by 100 after dividing to get percentage :)

    thus = 0.4% and 0.002%

    ex: 10 out of 100 is 10% , 10/100 = 0.1

    still not a very significant percentage though...
