I thought if it was postmarked yesterday, they'll still process it on paper.

Little throw back to the fax machine days.
I remember one time they had a machine that was feeding off paper BEHIND a filing cabinet. Week or so later someone realized they weren't "getting" any faxes.......

Don't worry, they'll fix that glitch when the first electronic renewal happens, in two years.
The renewal is the same form so it's still an application.
