I was just randomly browsing the MSP website and I noticed the SLR-106 is now legal. The SLR-106 is the Bulgarian-made semi-auto 5.56 variant of the AK-100 series rifles.

The listing doesn't specify a specific model so I guess that all SLR-106 variants, both rifle and carbine, are legal.

Now if only I was back in MD...

Lol, thanks. There goes my, "I don't need another caliber" excuse that I was using for the SLR-107. I see the side folders come with muzzle brakes, so no evil features hold up.

There is no spec for AKs in 5.56 and the only mags I've gotten to work reliably in the 106 are Arsenal mags. Every country that produced a 5.56 AK had its own little quirks and magazine. In fact even some Arsenal mags didn't work reliably in the 106, but once upon a time I had no problems exchanging them for ones that did.

If your only reason to buy a 5.56 AK is to share ammo with your other 5.56 rifle, it's not worth it. Stick with 5.45.

5.45 mags will work, at least they do in my 106CR.

Bulgarian (10) mag and arsenal smoke mags work fine in mine. Only note is on the bulgy mags the bolt scrapes the feedlips slightly. Just a file work on the lip to make sure it clearances and doesnt become sharp and all is good.
