I recall reading that the FBI used them back in the day. Old school sniper rifles!

    Value..

They are nice rifles. The down side is they don't hold value very well.

depends on the caliber with 760's along with the grade. .222, .223 and .257 bring the most. There were two grades, standard field grade with the "Corn-Cob" forearm and no grip checkering. The Deluxe version which had grip checkering and forearm "Five Diamond" checkering pattern.

Common calibers 30.06 and .308 devalue the most because they are well "common".

Want a case of sticker shock? find a 90/95% five diamond 760 in .222/.223 or .257 Roberts in that order.

They are awesome guns. When i saw the topic i was hoping there were a few of them for sale. I would love to have a 760 carbine in 308. Or 243.

My Uncle Harry passed his .270 to me, I'll pass it onto one of my younger cousins in a few years. Great gun.

It's put away in the safe, so I'm not sure if it has the cover.
It's got some pitting on the receiver from 40+ years of snowy Pa and WV hunting seasons.
Still keeps every shot in a skoal can lid at 100yds.

    If only..........

Back in the day the place I worked sold 760's and Marlins and some other assorted long guns.

If only I had the foresight to buy one or three of each.

    If only............

    I have an early 70s 760 in 30.06.
Also sports a 3x9 Redfield. Great deer gun, went head to head with a 742 semi (ended up hunting in SW VA, instead of PA) after my host gave me a hard time about the pump. I was slightly faster, and more accurate on a five round mag. The deal was accurate and fast. It's amazing how the action of pushing the forearm forward naturally pulls you back on target.

I bought a used .30-06 760 carbine back in 78. After reading about everyone else's experience with them, I must have had the only one ever made that was a P.O.S. . That thing was a jamomatic, I'd fire one round and the action would lock up. I was young and dumb and instead of sending it back to Remington I just sold it off.

I had a 760 pump years ago. It was a first year gun in 35 Remington. Nice rifle with a smooth action. Very accurate. The only drawback is they are a pain to clean.

Similar to the other post in the lever action porn thread. I just left my neighbors and one of the rifles he wants to sell is a Remington 760 in .270. I told him I would look into the value of these. I would love to buy all of his stuff but I just dont have the funds.

It looked pretty clean and I can get more info to help the ole man sell it.

Have a 760 Game Master Deluxe in ‘06. Its dead on accurate as 200+ and smooth but as other folks have said it kicks like a mule.
Pretty good description of mine, too!!!

One does have to remember they were made to be carried all day afield and maybe crack one of two rounds off, not sit at a bench and pump holes into paper all day!!!

The characteristics that make it good for the first task, generally make it suck for the second!!!

When I was a kid one of my friends had a 6mm Rem, can't remember if it was a 760 or 740 though?
My Father had a 760 in 30-06, I have it now it's a real nice rifle
