I wonder why suppressed only has 1/2 the cycle rate of unsuppressed?

And along with that, mid length is a bit softer shooting....I recently build 2 ML uppers, all the others have been carbine length...shooting the carbine immediately after the mid length, the recoil difference really is noticeable.

if you look at the data the the 62 vs 127 cyclic rate is not the actual cyclic rate (double commas) but the change from carbine to mid length gas with and without supressor.

round/minute
Supressed ---------- |--------- Unsupressed
carbine----mid length | carbine-----mid length
944.2 - 881.5 ______ | _____ 864.8 - 737.6

so the decrease in automatic fire cyclic rate is 7% lower supressed vs 16% lower unsupressed from carbine length gas to mid length gas.

I'm confused how that would have such a large impact on barrel life.

My first guess would be decreased port erosion. The longer the gas system, the lower the port pressure. This means less port erosion.

They were also using hammer forged barrels which increases barrel life.
