My search function is not returning anything, so I apologize in advance if this is a dupe.

I use Ballistol as a cleaner/lubricant, but I'm not sure if it's the best lubricant, especially on a DI AR or 1911. Is there a lube that doesn't include known carcinogens? I know Ballistol is safe, but I want to see if someone knows of another oil-like substance, but not some BS product that is actually vegetable oil.

    Thanks.

All lubes, carcinogenic or not from the source, become carcinogenic once you fire the gun.

I know many companies brag about it but it really is a pointless benefit. Keep your lube with your other unsafe chemicals and use latex gloves when you clean and lube your guns. Wash up well and you'll be fine.

I try to shoot outside to avoid all the lead in the air, but I'd still rather have the lube with the least carcinogens in it.

That eco friendly stuff is great if you never use it. It's just a eco friendly as motor oil once you use that gun.

There are still ways of lowering the carcinogenic effects. Since I shoot a lot, I'd like to mitigate my exposure as much as possible. I'm not a greenie worried about the snow owls, I just don't want myself or my daughter handling highly toxic chemicals. The least of the evils so to speak.

How about I used liquid asbestos to lube my gun?

I use this stuff on pretty much everything. I use both the grease and oil.
