    They may be exempt form service (receipt) of process, if that is what you mean. But, not exempt from violations of criminal law ...

    To some extent they are. The king can't use his prosecutor to harass pesky legislators with arrest warrants and frivolous prosecution. A legislator can only be prosecuted e.g. for tax evasion or groping the pages if the parliament suspends their legislative immunity.
    But that doesn't apply if the police catch one of the scoundrels in the act of committing a crime.

    They know they can't be trusted so they assume we can't be trusted either

    I literally heard a delegate testify in Annapolis something like he would be tempted to shoot people if he carried a gun.
