I did a search for an "official Walther pic thread" ...is this really it? nothing since 2012?

I have a PPQ pic to post but idk....here? Or is there one I'm missing? Searched a couple different ways, and just get this one popping up

I posted some low-rez pics from the seller in the C&R forum a couple of weeks ago but, yesterday, I went to 2A Sales in Jessup, MD to do the MSP paperwork on this beauty and to see it for the first time in-person. I was not disappointed!

    NIB 1966 Model Walther P38/P1

Basically, this pistol sat neglected in someone's dresser drawer for the past 50 years and was for sale on GB when I just ran across it. I wasn't really in the market for a Walther P38. Not a shooter, anyway. I've owned a couple of postwar P38's in the past and they were both a joy to take to the range. I don't know? For me, there's just something about the classic Walther pistols I respect and admire. I was curious about the going price of WW II-era Walther P38's when I saw this one selling for a couple hundred bucks less, said WTF and called the seller to make an offer.

Can't believe that it has been over a year since someone posted a Walther pic in this thread! C'mon Walther owners! Show us your stuff! I know I'm not the only one who can't resist a classic Walther in great condition.

Ok - here ya go. I picked these up when I was stationed in Germany 83 - 86 from the Rod and Gun Club at Patch Barracks

Top pic Walther P1, is a used Bundesministerium des Innern (BMI, border guards, etc) issue, made Jun 1964. I got the wood grips at the same time I bought the pistol. I stained them with a walnut stain. Came with a holster and extra mag.

Middle pic is a Walther PP, a police turn in from West German Polizei Niedersachsen made in 1969. Pachmayr grips. Came with a holster and extra mag.

Bottom pic is a PPK/s made in 1983, which I got brand new. Pachmayr grips.

    Nice!

I ETS'd in September 1982 and brought a PPK/s and a P38 home with me that I bought at the R&G Club on base. I wasn't home a month before adding another postwar-built P38 and a PP Super in .380 ACP that was #780 of 1000 imported by Interarms in 1983. I probably don't need to tell you how much that pistol is worth nowadays. Unfortunately, they all were sold off or traded for other things thru the years.

I like the wood grips on your P38! I'm also doing some grip shopping at the moment.

    Some lesser-known Walthers...

PP Sport (.22LR target pistol) - for me, aka "The Jam-O-Matic" - too frustrating, sold it.
(most were marked "Manurhin" vice "Walther")

P4 which was the short-lived transition between the P1 and P5 with limited-production of just under 7500.
(well, this one is the P-38 IV but same other than markings)

slide markings are different for each variant, left-to-right, top-to bottom:
    1) West German BMI contract (the most common)
    2) West Berlin police - these Manurhin-marked pistols are the rarest with 425 made
    3) Commercial sales - note the caliber isn't marked on the slide
    4) P-38 IV, one of the 452 made specially at the end of production for Interarms to import to the US).

I'm looking to possibly add a P5 and a P88 in the future. Is it true that the P88C is the better one to get? What issues did the P88 have that the P88 Compact fixed?

That P4 is really nice. I like the bobbed hammer!

I'm picking up my PPK/S in .22 caliber on Thursday.
For anyone who didn't play Goldeneye64 as a kid, I'm sorry you missed out.
This is an Apple Watch face I made based on the pause screen from the game.
If you have an Apple Watch and are as nerdy as I am, feel free to download and enjoy.

How does that PPQ in .45 shoot for you? That's another Walther I'm interested in but I'm not terribly familiar with the modern Walthers. I think they look cool. I know the trigger is supposed be among the best out there for striker-fired pistols. How does it compare to others you've tried?

Hands down my PPQ 45 is my favorite pistol, like the trigger better than my HK VP40 or Sig P320. The Apex trigger just makes it even better.

I had found this thread around this time about a year ago but it was pretty dead. Since it's alive again!!

Where are all the Walther 22lr pistol pics? Anyone have a pic of a Walther PPQ tactical model with the threaded barrel, and a can on it?

    PPQ 5" 40 S&W & PPQ 45 both with Apex triggers.

Here ya go. I flipped them over for ya. Tell me more about the Apex trigger? Was that something you added-on or did they already come installed. It looks like a very nice set-up!

This is the pistol I should be forever humiliated and ridiculed for selling - a Walther PP Super in .380 ACP. Interarms only imported 1000 of them in 1983 and I had serial # 0780. I saw one come up for sale on GB a few months ago as NIB for $3300. :shocking:

The 9mm Ultra (9x18) version is the more common and far less-valuable version I see all the time going in the $600-700 range.

I have a PPQ M2 9mm, PPQ 45, and the PPQ Tactical .22. My boss has borrowed my PPQ Tactical .22 but I should get it back this week and I'll take some photos of it with my Gemtech 22 can on it. I've fired the PPQ M2 9mm (love it!), but just got the PPQ 45 a few days ago and haven't had a chance to fire it yet.

Besides the PPQs, my other Walthers are:

    P1 (9mm)
    P22Q FDE (.22)
    P99C AS (9mm)
PPK/S (.380, stainless, with custom melt job and Novak sights)
    PPS M2 (9mm)

Thanks, the Apex is an aftermarket trigger I bought and installed. It improves an already great trigger.
